I started my business not having a clue, just a dream. After a lot of DIY’ing I under took certifications and qualifications in business coaching and marketing. But at the time I didn’t want to go into coaching as I am a more of the behind the scenes kinda gal. And so was trying to think of some other way to use my skills learnt and hence I became a freelancer doing VA and Social Media work.
I am quite tech efficient (well on my good days, we are all human, and those little tech gremlins like to test us all) so this was a good fit for me, working from home as and when I was available. Being the nerd that I am and given my love for studying I couldn’t help but delve into every course and resource I could on how to become a good VA.
Initially I started off doing admin tasks, setting up emails, or zoom and then of course social media scheduling but progressed further into setting up tech and systems. To becoming pretty much a mix of a project manager and OBM.
I found a love for the social media side of things (which is quite funny as I’m not on there a lot personally being ‘social’, I told you introverted) and that’s what I found my clients needed most.
I went on to get certified as a Social Media Specialist, Content Marketing Specialist, Digital Marketing Specialist and Social & Community Manager by Digital Marketer. I have also completed Social Media Manager training with Social Media Pro, Liz Benny, Laura Roeder, Cat Howell, Curt Maly and more. I continue to dive deep into most of the social media platforms, but my main focus is primarily on FB Groups for which I have taken many specific trainings with a few big names in the industry like Andrew Kroeze, Caitlin Bacher, Arne Giske etc.
And as a natural progression I started doing more business coaching and consulting, with less trading time for money as a VA. #workingsmarternotharder
Obviously in this line of work it required me to become very disciplined and organised in order to be as productive as I needed to be, so I did some training in time management skills and became a certified productivity coach.
In fact it was through my time as a business and mindset coach that I really saw the gap in the market when it came to teaching around productivity and big picture systems. And it has always been a topic so dear to my own heart. My clients were time strapped as working mums which is no surprise. I get it. Which is why they, more than anyone needed systems and automation to help them be more productive and scale for more income and more impact. At least until someone figures out how we can clone ourselves. Also as someone with ADHD, and coaching others in the same boat, systems are essential, they are literally a life line, they help you maintain consistency, minimise distractions, stay focused and organised. They create calm from the chaos
Yet my clients at the time automatically tuned out as soon as I would mention productivity or systems. Because like most they had these pre-conceived notions. Productivity meant getting more shit done, which felt impossible when they were already sinking, And systems, well, boring, plus they let the limiting beliefs creep in that systems weren’t for lowly little solopreneurs like them, systems were only for big 7 and 8 figure corporations that were a lot more established. When in fact this couldn’t be further from the truth!
So I’m on a mission to bust these myths about productivity and help spread the message to busy but ambitious, freedom craving women in business that it is possible to master their minutes, become more productive, streamline & scale for more income & more impact through leveraging the use of systems & automation.
Why am I telling you all this?
Well it’s sure as hell not to brag, if anyone knows me they know I actually like to stay out of the limelight and often play down my skills. The only reason I am broadcasting this here is because let’s face it between VA’s and Coaches they are a dime a dozen these days, it feels like every 2 mins another one is popping up. And that’s great, there truly is enough work out there for everyone as the online business world is exploding.
But I want to demonstrate that I am not someone who just decided on a whim, one day to have a play at this online business stuff. I take my business very serious, I respect that I am essentially advising others on their ‘baby’, and that they have worked hard to build it. That is why I always bring my A game and will only work with clients who are serious action takers and who I feel truly are a good fit. That is also why I continue to learn and develop so I can stay current with all the changing algorithms, tech, tools and softwares to help bring you the best results.
